still reeling...

from embarrassment from last night. so this week is a rest week, and thank god because i fell off my bike last sunday in the middle of my brick... and then of course, even after i fell, i kept riding, then i ran 3 miles. i know, i'm smart. well, later that day, i could barely move my leg, and if i tried to lift it, i would get shooting pains in my knee. not so cool. the pain has gradually been subsiding, but now, it being friday, i still have some pain going up and down stairs. so i went to the doctor, and she said that i just have a really deep bone bruise, and that the pain and soreness would likely persist for another 2-3 MONTHS! what the hell?! yeah, i know. but whatever, i set a goal to finish a triathlon and dadgummit, i'm going to do it. i asked her if i had to stop training, and she said no, but just as a precaution, she wanted to get an x-ray of my knee.

so i went to the lab to get the x-ray, and the technician told me that she was printing my x-rays in case i needed them because when she looked at them, she thought she saw an abnormality...but she's "not a doctor." LADY, if you're not a doctor, keep your damn opinion to yourself. now i can't help but be worried. ugh. stupid-ass technician.

so anyway, back to last night and why i am reeling from embarrassment. like i said, this week is a rest week, and our swim started out normal. 4x75s with drill, easy free, then 60-70% free. then we played a little stroke golf 4x50. (this is a good time to mention that koach konrad was in the pool with us this week, and as we were doing stroke golf, i looked down, and saw koach lying on the bottom of the pool watching us. it was the weirdest thing ever.) THEN koach thought he would treat us by teaching us how to do flip- turns. of course, i've tried them with ali before and i thought it was fun back then, so i didn't really think about it. he broke it down into 2 basic steps, each of which i mastered pretty quickly. one was a somersault, then other was a sort of twisting push off the wall. then came time to put it all together. with everyone including koach watching. i tried my first flip turn, and promptly hit my head on the bottom of the pool. EXCELLENT. so i tried again, and i kind of stalled in the middle of the flip, so koach had to FLIP ME. i was mortified. but i couldn't help but laugh afterwards, because, my god, how big of an idiot can i be?? so i tried a couple more times, each time getting a tiny bit better at it. so...after a few tries, practice was almost over, and coach jamie points at me from the deck and was like, "you, yeah, you. do a flip turn", and he told donna to watch me, but by this time, there a BUNCH more people in our lane watching. and i go over, and do this completely retarded flip turn where one leg pushed off the wall, and the other was flailing in the AIR! oh my god. i can't stop laughing right now thinking of how ridiculous i looked. after the flip, coach jamie was like, "i asked you to demonstrate, and you do this funky one-legged flip turn!" and was like, "well you asked the wrong person!!" man, i think i had everybody either laughing or really embarrassed for me. AND THAT is why i am still reeling.
